US Stocks (New York, May 20): Which stocks are gaining value and why
The market on this last day of the week tried to do its best to survive without losing too much. This timid session in the US is represented by the following values: S&P gained 0.01%, NASDAQ fell -0.3%, and Dow Jones Industrial Average gained +0.04%.
The tech market closed mixed and big tech stock played an important role in the rebound of the market, thanks to investors buying the dip.
Microsoft and Meta, respectively -0.23% and +1.18%: Amazon (+0.25%), Snap (+0.26%), and Netflix (+1.56%), Google (-1.29%), Paypal (-0.91%) and Twitter 2.68%.
Yesterday, Bank of America raised its target on iPhone sales of 6 million units, but the stock fell around 2% during the day, today gained around 0.17% cutting the loss staked on Thursday.
Chipset producers AMD and NVIDIA respectively fell -3.28% and -2.51%.
The smart mobility still uncertain about the direction to follow. The sector saw Lyft (-1.14%) and Uber Technologies (+0.47%).
The energy sector ended the week in the green with most of all gaining plus than 0.5%. In brief the energy sector: BP reported a +0.81%, Baker Hughes (-1.20%), APA(+2.06%), Devon Energy Corporation (+0.59%) Schlumberger NV (+0.66%), Halliburton (+1.77%).
The financial services sector saw the stocks closing the day mixed: Signature Bank and Citigroup closed respectively +1.01% and -0.06%. All the others followed this uncertainty: Visa (+0.84%) and American Express (-0.49%), JPMorgan Chase (-0.82%), Morgan Stanley (-0.74%), Goldman Sachs -0.45%.
Selloff for the air companies led from Boeing.
Boeing lost around -5.07%, United Airlines falling (-1.49%), Alaska Air Group (-1.41%), and American Airlines (-2.93%).
