The markets today were a little tighter than they had been earlier in the week.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 249 points and is now up 0.71% on today’s trading volume; while S&P 500 fell slightly at around 11am EST – down less than 1%.
The Nasdaq also dipped into negative territory with one point lost per share after falling over 1%.
The US 30 Cash Index (+0.91%) reaching quota 35.230.2 has been increasing steadily over the past year, and is now at its highest point since late 2014.
The S&P 500 VIX fell another 4.91% today. This means that Wall Street is becoming less predictive of stocks’ future performance which could lead to some great opportunities for investors who are looking out over longer time frames.
The stock market in Canada was mostly positive today. The S&P/TSX composite index closed at -0.09% losing 20.44 points standing now at 21,998.38 points.
On the other side of the ocean, the market is showing signs of recovery, with stocks opening up higher today after yesterday’s sell-off.
The FTSE100 was up almost 0.5% while European indices were in positive territory as well thanks to upbeat economic data from Germany.
The DAX index rose 1.47% on Wednesday, gaining 208.57 points reaching quota 14,362.03.
The market in France has been on a rollercoaster this week. On Wednesday it opened up again with gains and is now up 1.38% at 6.624,91 (+170.66) points.
The Euro Stoxx 50 index was up 1.72% on Wednesday as investors welcomed signs that the region’s economic recovery is gathering momentum.
The Spanish Index Market, Ibex 35 index closed at +75.50 today, up 0.87% from yesterday’s close. The Iberico Index is now at 8,769.50 points.
On the Asian coast the Japanese stock market closed out Wednesday’s trading session with an increase of 0.86%.
The Nikkei 225 index rose 232 points to end at 27,217.85 +0.86%, Shanghai’s stock market was down 1.35% losing 42.98 points reaching 3,151.05.
The Hang Seng Index closed down 0.4%.
The Nifty 50 index of shares rose 1.05% while the BSE Sensex 30 Index gladly climbed to new heights, increasing by more than 1%.
